Amiable heart

She understood him. He could not forgive her, - but he could not be unfeeling. Though condemning her for the past, and considering it with high and unjust resentment, though perfectly careless of her, and though becoming attached to another, still he could not see her suffer, without the desire of giving her relief. It was a remainder of former sentiment; it was an impulse of pure, though unacknowledged friendship; it was a proof of his own warm and amiable heart, which she could not comtemplate without emotions so compounded of pleasure and pain, that she knew not which prevailed.

Nursing

(...) Nursing does not belong to a man, it is not his province. A sick child is always the mother's property, her own feelings generally make it so.

All Jane Austen All the time: Persuasion (Opinião + adaptação)

Captain Wentworth is 'a young man, who had nothing but himself to recommend him, and no hopes of attaining influence'

and Anne Elliot had been persuaded to break off her engagement with him. He returns, eight years later, as a strikingly successful naval officer. It is up to Anne, the motherless daughter of Sir Walter Elliot, 'a foolish, spendthrift baronet' obsessed with his social standing, to find ways of breaking through petty snobberies, prejudices, and ideals of decorum which banned all open expression of female desire.

Jane Austen's last novel has a vivid new sense of how easily love can be crushed by convention. Yet her razor-sharp irony utterly destroys the pretensions of Bath's 'high society', making Persuasion both an enchanting romance and a masterpiece of high comedy.

Leituras de Julho: All Jane Austen, All the time

Cecelia Ahern

Usa, a high-school student aspiring to begin a bachelor lifestyle, moves into a new apartment only to discover that he not only shares a room with a perverted roommate that has an obsession for underaged girls, but also that another girl, Ritsu, a love-at-first-sight, is living in the same building as well!

Preguiça a quanto complicas!

Resultado: ausência no blog.
